In September 2003, Greater Louisville Inc., Jefferson County Public
Schools (JCPS) and Louisville Metro Government kicked off an ambitious
reading initiative called Every 1 Reads: a community-wide effort to have
every child in JCPS reading at grade level by 2008. Much has been
accomplished since the beginning of this initiative in 2003, but we still
need your support. JCPS has increased the number of students reading at
grade level to 91.5% and over 8,200 volunteers have been trained to help
students reach their potential. The support from the community has been
tremendous! However, it is not too late to volunteer. Learn how you can
become a volunteer.
